We have covered cost savings and studies, now let’s go ahead and cover some of the basics that you need to know when you are adding your teenager onto your car insurance policy.  There are a few things that you want to know before you add them – so keep these tips in mind.

One of the first things that you need to know is that your child can only be on your car insurance policy if they are not the main driver of the car.  It is not possible for them to buy a brand new or used car and then still be under their parent’s car insurance.

The reason for this is because it can actually ruin their parent’s car insurance record if they get into an accident while on their parent’s policy still.  That is definitely something to keep in mind when adding your child.
